The coronavirus pandemic has forced to stop sports activities and it had eventually opened up an uncertain future of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020. While the England opener Jason Roy is ready to feature in the coveted tournament even, they get three weeks for the preparation, and he also feels that the postponement of the competition makes sense if it can’t provide the proper preparation time.

Australia will host the seventh edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup from 18th October to 15th November 2020. Though the coronavirus is dominating the world, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is still hopeful to organise the tournament in scheduled time. However, the global governing body is also preparing for the worst situation as the sustainable coronavirus is opening up a doubtful future.

Jason Roy, who played an important role for England’s winning the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 trophy, feels the upcoming T20 World Cup should be postponed if it can’t provide the preparation time.

Roy said according to ESPNcricinfo, “If players aren’t able to prepare in the right way and are not able to get over to Australia, then it makes sense to postpone it.”

However, the 29-year-old right-handed opening batsman is still confident about the upcoming T20 World Cup. He believes that the team can be ready to participate in the tournament if they get three weeks to prepare for the tournament.

Roy added, “But if it goes ahead, it’s our job to play cricket – and if we’re told we have three weeks to prepare to go and play in the World T20, all the boys will be putting the yards in to make sure we’re ready for that.

“I think all the boys are on edge, waiting for the call saying, ‘Right, we have a month turnaround or a six-week turnaround. Get in the nets and go hit some balls.’ I think the boys will be as ready as they can be.”

Roy is eagerly waiting to play cricket again. The English opener also has no problem to play the game in empty stadiums.

Since his international debut in 2014, Roy has played five Tests, 87 ODIs and 35 T20Is where the right-handed batsman has scored 187 runs (average 18.70), 3434 runs (average 42.39) and 860 runs (average 24.57) respectively.
