Jasprit Bumrah, the stand-in skipper for the rescheduled 5th Test against hosts England had a memorable second day of the rescheduled Test between India and England.

The 28-year-old pacer who is captaining India in this game for the first time had an outstanding day with both bat and ball. After scoring an unbeaten 31 from 16 balls, he got rid of three English top-order batters to give India an upper hand.

Jasprit Bumrah Smashed 35 Runs In An Over Against Stuart Board Before Taking 3 Crucial Scalps In 2nd Day Of 5th Test

Star Indian pacer and stand-in captain for the rescheduled Test against England, Jasprit Bumrah, was on fire against the hosts on the second day of the Edgbaston Test. The 28-year-old first showed his exceptional batting skills with the bat and then got rid of the top three English batters to put India in the driving seat.

The 28-year-old pacer arrived at the crease as a number 10 batter and, in the 84th over of the Indian innings, hammered veteran English pacer Stuart Broad for 35 runs in an over. It was the most expensive over in the history of Test cricket.
Jasprit Bumrah showed no mercy against the English quick, who only became the third fast-bowler to pick up 550 wickets in the traditional format of the game a couple of overs ago. He smashed him for 4 fours and 2 sixes in an over to register his name in the record books in his maiden game as Indian captain in any format of the game.
And if that was not enough, he then returned with the ball in hand to haunt the hosts England, and got rid of the top three English batters. He first dismissed opening batter Alex Lees on the last ball of his second over and then sent his partner Zak Crawley back to the pavilion on the first ball of his next over.
There was nothing that could stop the Indian skipper on Saturday as he picked up one more wicket when he got rid of in-form number three batter Ollie Pope. The 24-year-old was in good touch against New Zealand last month but could only manage 10 runs against India. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Alex Lees (6), Zak Crawley (9), and Ollie Pope (10).

Jasprit Bumrah Impressed Ajit Agarkar With His Immaculate Line And Length

Impressed by the all-around show of Jasprit Bumrah on the second day of the rescheduled Test, former Indian pacer Ajit Agarkar hailed the stand-in Indian captain for his heroics.
“Bumrah and Shami’s partnership in the Lord’s Test in the same series helped India win the match. Today, Stuart Broad wasn’t great and Jasprit Bumrah cashed in. Test cricket at the moment seems very easy,” Ajit Agarkar said.

“Bowl well, get heaps of wickets, get runs, become captain, and put India in a terrific position. But I think it’s his bowling. He just bowled at the right speed. His line and length were immaculate as always,” Agarkar added.
Courtesy of Jasprit Bumrah, England ended the second day at 84 for 5 in 27 overs and they still trail India by 332 runs. It is a must-win match for the hosts if they want to save themselves from the embarrassment of losing a Test series against the Indian team for the first time in 15 years at home.
The rain stopped play after Jonny Bairstow’s free-spirited 91* took England to 200-6 at lunch in the ongoing final fifth Test match at Edgbaston, Birmingham. While Ben Stokes fell for 25, Jonny Bairstow looked in control, hitting an eye-catching fifty featuring regular boundaries.
