ToggleFast bowler Jaydev Unadkat’s hard work was finally paid off after he helped Saurashtra team — to lift the maiden Ranji Trophy trophy of the 2019-20 season. For his outstanding performance, he has been praised by Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma.
Saurashtra skipper Unadkat notched up two wickets in the final against Bengal. Following this, he became the highest wicket-taker in the 2019-20 season of the domestic tournament, with 67 wickets to his name. Besides, the pacer now also holds the second position in the list of overall highest wicket-taker in Ranji Trophy.

Rajkumar has lauded Unadkat’s effort to lead his team to victory and hopes that his performance in the event will surely give him a place in India’s squad.

“I congratulate Saurashtra for their stellar performance in Ranji Trophy, especially Jaydev Unadkat, who bowled crucial spells and picked 67 wickets in the mega event,”
“He should be included in India’s squad. In the IPL, he had already proved himself and now he has shown how useful he can be in the longest format of the game,” he added.
Unadkat has played for India in one Tests, seven ODIs and 10 T20Is. He lost the place in the team because of injury. After recovery, he was called in the T20 team but could not impress the team management. Thus, was dropped from the team.
Rajkumar Sharma on postponing of IPL 2020:

The outbreak of coronavirus has triggered every cricketing event. BCCI has also decided to postpone the IPL 2020 till 15th April which was earlier scheduled to start from 29th March.
Rajkumar Sharma believes that BCCI has taken the right step, to delay the start of the most-watched T20 league because it will help to curb the spread of the virus.
“I appreciate the efforts made by BCCI as it was necessary to ensure the fan’s safety. Postponing the IPL was need of the hour”
Earlier, Virat Kohli also shared the message with fans to stay safe and take every precaution to prevent the expansion of pandemic.
