Jofra Archer, the English fast bowler, is doubtful for the Ashes 2023 series against Australia at home after it was informed that he will miss the rest of this season’s Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) due to a lingering elbow injury.

After suffering elbow and back problems, Archer missed 17 months of action before making his comeback to international cricket in January.

The 28-year-old only participated in five of the Mumbai Indians’ 10 games this season, and last month, he allegedly underwent a minor procedure on his problematic right elbow. On June 16, the Ashes series versus Australia gets underway at Edgbaston.

“The England & Wales Cricket Board can confirm that fast bowler Jofra Archer will return from the Indian Premier League with immediate effect. Archer has been recovering from right elbow surgery. However, pushing through the discomfort whilst recently playing, hoping it will settle, has proven challenging.

Therefore, it has been agreed for him to return to the UK for a period of rest and rehabilitation to give him the best opportunity for a full recovery.
