England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler wants to feature in the IPL 2020, and he is hopeful for a shortened tournament in this year despite the coronavirus pandemic.

IPL 2020 will be the 13th edition of the tournament which was initially scheduled to be played between 29th March and 24th May 2020. But due to the novel coronavirus outbreak in the world that has affected many people’s lives, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has postponed IPL 2020 till 15th April 2020.

However, the situation is not under control yet. Like some other nations, India is also now going into the 21-day lockdown period from 25th March 2020. Observing the current situation, many believe that it is almost impossible to start the IPL 2020 in April.

Recently, a BCCI official has claimed that the IPL 2020 must have to begin in the first week of May. While some reports are claiming that the IPL 2020 can be shortened, some others are claiming that the tournament can be played in July-August.

However, nobody can’t confirm about the future of IPL 2020 until the global situation comes under control. Everyone believes that the present situation is leading to the cancellation of IPL 2020.

IPL such a massive tournament for world cricket: Jos Buttler

The 29-year-old English cricketer Jos Buttler, who currently serves for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL, has no clue about the future of IPL 2020. Buttler called the IPL as a massive tournament for world cricket.

He is still hopeful about the IPL 2020 as he wants at least the shortened tournament.

Buttler told Skypsorts podcast, “No news at the moment. We saw, initially, that it was going to be postponed. It’s very hard to see this changing in the immediate future, so I don’t see that as a possibility at the moment.

“Obviously, it’s such a massive tournament for world cricket, so hopefully some of it can go ahead – perhaps a shortened tournament.”

Jos Buttler made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians (MI) where he served till 2017. Since 2018, Buttler is playing for Rajasthan Royals. He has scored 1,386 runs (average 35.53) in 45 IPL matches with the strike-rate of 150.81.
