Indian captain Virat Kohli and Australian spinner Adam Zampa share a fierce rivalry on the cricket field. The latter has picked up the flamboyant batsman’s wicket on seven occasions, but in the recently concluded ODI series, he could not even once get his wicket. However, Josh Hazlewood was the one who notched Kohli’s wicket in all the three matches.
Asked about the same during a chat on Cricket.com.au, Zampa jokingly responded that Hazlewood could happily keep the tag of Virat Kohli’s ‘conqueror’.
“He (Josh Hazlewood) can have it. He can have (the mantle of) Kohli’s conqueror,” the leg-spinner replied with a smile.
Adam Zampa praised Josh Hazlewood, stating that the speedster has got the knack of picking wickets at the crucial stage.
“Josh (is a) pretty nonchalant kind of guy. He just got in done. But, it was nice to get Kohli, particularly (in) today’s game. He looked like he was on again. Josh seems to get those big wickets all the time.”
Josh Hazlewood got better of Virat Kohli:
In the first two ODIs, Josh Hazelwood got out Virat Kohli while he was trying to play pull shots. Moses Henriques had picked a stunning catch of Kohli during the second ODI which ended his innings at 89.
Overall, the speedster finished up the series as the leading wicket-taker, picking seven wickets at an economy rate of 5.36. He was one of the architects of the team’s 2-1 triumph over India in the ODI.
On the other hand, the leg-spinner Adam Zampa claimed six wickets at an average of 30 and an economy rate of 6.20. His best of 4 for 54 came in the first ODI at Sydney, a match in which he dismissed Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja.
Meanwhile, Australia and India are set to play the three-match T20I series which is scheduled to begin on December 4.
