Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman was full of praise of the Team India’s captain Virat Kohli after the latter entered the elite 12,000 ODI runs the club on Friday (December 3). The flamboyant batsman also broke Sachin Tendulkar‘s 17-year-old record to become the fastest cricket to achieve the unique feat.

During the third and final ODI against Australia, Virat Kohli reached the milestone in the 12th over of India’s innings after scoring 23 runs. Overall, Kohli amassed 63 runs off 78 balls and guided them to victory.

But the quality of Virat Kohli which impresses VVS Laxman most is that he has never burned out during his ongoing international career. Even though it has been over a decade to his cricket career, he is amazed to see that the aggressive batsman has until now maintained the same energy level.

“Phenomenal. I think, the way he has played in each and every series, the kind of intensity he has maintained each and every day, when he’s on the cricket field is unbelievable because at some stage I thought that will be the biggest challenge for Virat Kohli, at some stages he will burn out, but not even once we have seen that energy drop-down when Virat is on the cricket field, whether he is batting or he is fielding,” Laxman said on The Cricket Connected Show in Star Sports.

Having high expectations from fans while also playing under pressure, Kohli has delivered fantastically. VVS Laxman is in awe of the flamboyant batsman that how he relishes pressure and bring best out of him.

And under pressure, because if you see his one day record how many Hundreds did he get while chasing and then you know that you’ve got a target to achieve, there’s always a scoreboard pressure on him, but he relishes pressure, he relishes responsibility and that’s what gets the best out of him,” the former batsman added.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli will lead the team in the T20I series against Australia, starting from December 4.
