Justin Langer Calls MS Dhoni A Master In Finisher Role

Australian Head Coach Justin Langer recently called that MS Dhoni was master in the finisher role like Michael Bevan, Michael Hussey etc. He believes that world cricket is looking for this kind of players.

A solid team has been built up with the presence of many different characters. In this system, every cricketer plays different but crucial roles. However, the finisher plays one of the most vital roles in this team. Without a solid finisher, a team can’t show their proper dominance on the field although they have enough strong batting and bowling units.

To become a dependable finisher, a player has to face many experiences. Like the other teams, the present Australian team is also trying to find out this kind of player who can take proper responsibility in the finisher role.

The former Aussie cricketer and present Head Coach Justin Langer recently claimed that the former Australian cricketers Michael Hussey and Michael Bevan and the former Indian World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni were masters in the finishing role. He also praised England cricketer Jos Buttler for this role.

Langer said according to ICC, “We’ve been fortunate in the past with a Mike Hussey or a Michael Bevan who are masters at it. MS Dhoni is a master of it, Jos Buttler has been brilliant at it for England.

“What I’ve learned is everyone in the world is looking for it.”

Justin Langer’s boys will now face New Zealand in the ODI series

Recently, Australia lost the three-match ODI series against the hosts South Africa by the 3-0 margin. Now, they are preparing for the three-match home ODI series against New Zealand.

During the forthcoming home ODI series, while Australia will try to find out the finisher, Langer feels that it will be a good opportunity for the batsmen to show their actual class.

Langer claimed, “So it’s a role that’s there for someone to grab hold of. No one at this stage has absolutely secured it, have they? But there are good opportunities there for someone to do that.”

The three matches of the upcoming ODI series between Australia and New Zealand will be played on 13th March (at Sydney), 15th March (at Sydney) and 20th March (at Hobart).
