Although India’s tour of Australia is scheduled in October, however, the excitement is no less among fans. Even Australia’s head coach Justin Langer is waiting to witness the heated four-match Test series between the two best sides later this year.
Last year, Virat Kohli led side created history as they won the first-ever Test series in Australian soil. The series witnesses several thrilling knocks from both the sides. Cheteshwar Pujara, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli were the prominent contributor in India’s historical victory.
On the other hand, the host Australia was missing their two-star performers- Steve Smith and David Warner. The two were serving the one year ban for the sandpaper gate scandal. And they are back in the team and will play a key role this year.
We learnt some lessons along the way: Justin Langer
Former Australia veteran Justin Langer recalls the defeat of Australia against the tough Indian side. But he is confident that after the comeback of the Smith and David Warner, his team is ready to face the Virat Kohli led side.
“Australia Cricket Team as the entire team has grown as a unit including David and Steve. It was a difficult summer 18 months ago against a very impressive side which I still rate as one of the toughest I have seen,” Langer told Sportstar.
“We learnt some lessons along the way. I always enjoy seeing the best of the best going against each other and in a series like Australia versus India, there will be many great players who will put on a show,” the former Australia batsman further added.
Justin Langer names the two rivalries:
Further, Justin Langer also mentioned the rivalry between Virat Kohli and Pat Cummins in the series will be engrossing. Apart from them, he also tagged Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling attack against Steve Smith and David Warner would also be enthralling.
“Virat (Kohli) versus Pat Cummins, Steve Smith and David Warner vs Jasprit (Bumrah). It’s a tantalising prospect for any cricket lover,” Langer said.
Interestingly, Indian pacer Bumrah, who made the Test debut in 2018, has so fat not faced Warner and Smith in the Test cricket. So, it will be an interesting rivalry to watch in the cricket field when India will tour Australia to play 3 T20Is, 4 Tests and 3 ODIs
