Sri Lanka’s fast bowler Kasun Rajitha has bagged an unwanted record in the first T20I against Australia which was played at Adelaide Oval. Rajitha conceded 75 runs in his four-overs quota, which is the most expensive spell in the shortest form of the game. Thus, he gave away his runs at an economy rate of 18.75.

Rajitha conceded 18 runs in his final over as he was clobbered to all parts of the ground by the Australian batsmen. The right-arm seamer went past the record of Tunahan Turan, who had given away 70 runs for Turkey against the Czech Republic.

Meanwhile, Australia cruised to a convincing win of 134 runs in the first T20I against Sri Lanka. The Island nation had thumped the number T20I side, Pakistan recently and they were expected to pose a challenge to Australia. However, it was not to be the case as the hosts dominated from the get-go.

On the other hand, the margin of 134 runs is the biggest winning margin for Australia. Furthermore, the same margin is the biggest lossing margin for Sri Lanka in T20Is.

Australia’s opening batsman David Warner who had struggled to get going in the Ashes was able to roar back into form. Warner scored his maiden T20I century as he scored a blistering knock of unbeaten 100 off just 56 balls. The southpaw scored 10 fours and four sixes in his fine innings. Thus, Warner celebrated his 33rd birthday in style.

Australia’s skipper Aaron Finch also scored a fine knock of 64 runs off just 36 balls. The right-hander added 122 runs for the opening stand with Warner.

Subsequently, Glenn Maxwell scored 28-ball 62 to add the finishing touches. On the other side, the visitors could only manage 99-9 in their allotted 20 overs. In fact, no batsman could go past 20 runs. Adam Zampa scalped three wickets for the hosts.

The second T20I will take place at Gabba, Brisbane on 30 October.
