Former Indian cricketer and current Indian politician Kirti Azad is going to make debut as an actor in the Hindi movie ‘Kirket’. This movie will be based on Bihar’s cricket which is falling behind in the cricket scene after bifurcation 15-years ago.
‘Kirket’ is a very popular colloquial term of ‘Cricket’ in Bihar. After being kept away from BCCI since bifurcation of the state into Jharkhand in 2000, the East Indian state Bihar has been accorded the status of an Associate member of the apex cricket body of the country recently. All of this will be included in the movie.
Kirti Azad will act in this movie. This movie is currently shooting at the several places in Darbhanga, Bihar while the shooting will also take place in Patna, Noida and Mumbai too.
When Azad was asked about his current experience about the new work field, he said on-location, “Since I am enacting the character of myself, it comes naturally and I find no reason to be afraid of facing the camera during shoots.”
Azad informed that the guest actor-cricketer for the movie would be Bishan Singh Bedi, Manoj Prabhakar, Ajay Jadeja, Maninder Singh and Surendra Khanna; while famous international Umpire SK Bansal has also essayed a role in the movie. Azad also said that Shatrughan Sinha, the BJP MP from Patna, would also make a special appearance in the movie.
Azad was a member of India’s winning team in 1983 Cricket World Cup under Kapil Dev’s captaincy. Azad was a right-handed aggressive batsman and right-arm off spin bowler. Azad had featured 7 Tests and 25 ODIs from 1980 to 1986.
This movie is scripted by Vishal Vijay Kumar. Earlier he had written the story of “Ghayal Once Again”, where Sunny Deol had acted in the leading role. Joginder Singh is the director of ‘Kirket’ while Sonu Jha is the producer of the movie.
Jha informed that Sonam Chabbra is the lead female character in the movie. Jha also said that the movie is expected to hit the screen in early next year.
