The legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar also had bad experiences in his early ODI career. Not only in his first ODI, but Tendulkar also scored a duck in his first two ODIs (against Pakistan at Gujranwala on 18th December 1989 and against New Zealand at Dunedin on 1st March 1990).

Starting his career as a middle-order batsman, when Tendulkar improved his batting performances gradually, he was promoted as an ODI opener, and it became a game-changing in Indian cricket history. Tendulkar became one of the greatest ODI openers and broke most of the batting records in international cricket history. While he scored his first ODI century in his 76th innings, he finished his ODI career with the record number of 49 centuries and 96 half-centuries.

After playing the record number of ODIs (463 ODIs) till March 2012, Tendulkar scored 18426 runs with an average of 44.83.
