Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting were KKR teammate
Former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly and former Australian cricketer Ricky Ponting both were the successful captains. As both captains led their respective national teams in the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2003, where Ponting-led Australia won that final by 125 runs, they were undoubtedly the great rivals in international cricket.
However, in the first-ever IPL match, Ganguly and Ponting played together for the KKR where Ganguly led the Kolkata franchise. But their partnership was not so strong enough at that time as Ponting only managed to play four matches in that season and remained unimpressive in that tournament.
In IPL 2019, Ponting (Head Coach) and Ganguly (Advisor) again served together but as the coaching and support staff for the Delhi Capitals (DC) which was very successful.
