A day after being named in the World Cup squad, injured Australian skipper Michael Clarke has begun his rigorous training sessions to get fit in time for Australia’s second match of the World Cup against Bangladesh, which is scheduled to take place on February 21st.

Cricket Australia (CA) on January 10th named Michael Clarke as the skipper of their 15-man squad for the World Cup but also made it clear that if Clarke, who sustained a hamstring injury during the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Adelaide, fails to pass his fitness Tests by February 20th, then he will be ruled out of the World Cup and George Bailey will captain the side for the full event. But Clarke is determined to get himself fit and lead Australia to glory for the fifth time in the World Cup history.

Michael Clarke has featured in two World Cup’s for Australia (in 2007 and 2011), out of which, they won the 2007 one and got knocked out in the quarter-finals in 2011. Clarke has also played a total of 238 ODIs and has scored 7,762 runs at an average of 44.86 with 8 centuries and 56 half-centuries. The ICC World Cup 2015 is most likely to be Clarke’s last (if he plays) and he would like to put all his experience into that and help Australia win it.

This is what Michael Clarke’s official twitter account said yesterday:
