Michael Vaughan Reckons Glenn Maxwell Will Be High In Demand In IPL Auction

Glenn Maxwell had a forgetful Indian Premier League (IPL) season as he even could not hit a six in 14 matches. He was deemed to be out of form, but he bamboozles everyone with his scintillating performance in the recently-concluded ODI series against India. The allrounder played rocket-fueling knocks in death overs to dismantle the Indian bowler’s attack.
Impressed with the Aussies performance, Michael Vaughan stated that he was the player that every team wanted in the limited over. He also said that Glenn Maxwell would be in hot attraction in the IPL auctions although he is currently playing for Kings XI Punjab. Well, if Maxwell had not turned the tables in India’s tour, he was likely to be dropped.
“I don’t think there is any white-ball team in the world that wouldn’t want Maxwell. I’m pretty sure next time in the IPL auction, most of the teams will look for Maxwell. Look what Australia have done, they have found the right place for him – at no. 7, and I don’t think they’ll move him too much unless obviously, they get off to the fliers,” Vaughan told Cricbuzz.
Michael Vaughan feels the rise of Maxwell was because Australia’s team management has given him a set role to bat at number seven and score runs heavily in the last 15 overs.
“I think they have found his role in the last 15 overs. They feel that’s when he is at his best when he can go out there and pretty much go from ball one. That’s when is he is having his most effects.”
Michael Vaughan defines Glenn Maxwell as a huge asset in the fielding:
Further, the former England cricketer heaped praise on Glenn Maxwell’s athletic fielding. He said that the spin-bowling allrounder was a huge asset in fielding because he saves 5 to 10 runs.
“I think his fielding is pretty much guaranteed that he is going to probably save 5 to 10 runs in the field. So, he is already in my eyes when he goes out to bat, on 10. I mention that most of the batsmen start on naught, Maxwell starts on 10 because he is that good in the field,” said Vaughan.
Michael Vaughan believes that Maxwell has found his mojo in the ODI series and will continue the similar performance for the next couple of years.
“As I said there is no team in the world that wouldn’t want Glenn Maxwell with what he brings all around. His love for the game and I don’t see people realizing how much of cricket tragic he is. He absolutely idealizes and adores the game. Now he has found his mojo for the Aussie one-day side. I feel he is going to have a consistent time over the next couple of years for Australia.”
Meanwhile, after winning the ODI series, Australia is set to play three-match T20I series against India which is scheduled to begin from December 4
