Mohammad Kaif Berates Pakistan PM Imran Khan For His Dig At India 1

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, on Tuesday, caused quite a stir by taking a vile dig at India. The former Pakistan skipper tried to compare the treatment of minorities in his country and India, saying these communities would be treated as equal citizens in ‘Naya Pakistan’. The comment came just days after he had targeted his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, saying he would show the latter ‘how to treat minorities’.

“Naya Pakistan is Quaid’s Pakistan and will ensure that our minorities are treated as equal citizens, unlike what is happening in India,” he tweeted.

Khan was delivering his ‘lectures’ on the occasion of Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s birthday.

Targeting India in another tweet, Khan said: “His (Jinnah’s) struggle for a separate nation for Muslims only started when he realised that Muslims would not be treated as equal citizens by the Hindu majority.”

The controversy had started when outspoken Bollywood actor, who recently criticised India skipper Virat Kohli’s behaviour, had spoken on mob violence in India. Lamenting the rise of mob violence in the country, the veteran actor had expressed his feats over religious intolerance in the country.

Earlier this month, a senior police officer and a student were shot dead in mob violence in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr after cow carcasses were found.

“It will be very difficult to capture this djinn back into the bottle again. There is complete impunity for those who take law into their own hands…I feel anxious for my children because tomorrow if a mob surrounds them and asks, ‘Are you a Hindu or a Muslim?’ they will have no answer. It worries me that I don’t see the situation improving anytime soon,” Mr Shah said.

This is when Imran Khan got an opportunity and he did not let it go. Not surprisingly, his comments have not gone down well with the Indians and now former India batsman Mohammad Kaif has given the Pakistan PM a fitting reply. Kaif said Pakistan should be the last country to lecture any country on the matter.

“There were around 20% minorities at the time of Partition in Pakistan, less than 2% remain now. On the other hand, minority population has grown significantly in India since Independence. Pakistan is the last country that should be lecturing any country on how to treat minorities,” Mohammad Kaif tweeted.
