Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has suspended the 32-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Shahzad for one year for breaching ACB’s code of conduct.

Mohammad Shahzad repeatedly breached the ACB’s code of conduct by travelling out of the country several times without taking any permission from the ACB. According to ESPNcricinfo, Shahzad recently travelled in Peshawar, Pakistan for practice.
Due to this issue, the ACB suspended him from the contract on 10th August. Now, the board has decided to suspend him for one year. Due to this ban, Shahzad can’t participate in any form of cricket, which is related to the ACB, for the next 12 months.
ACB statement claimed, “Shahzad has violated ACB’s disciplinary rules and regulations previously as well and has not adhered to ACB’s code of conduct for players. He has travelled out of the country several times violating ACB’s policy for players to seek its permission before doing so.”
“ACB has well-equipped training and practice facilities within the country and Afghan players do not require to travel abroad for such purposes.”

In his cricket career, Mohammad Shahzad has faced many controversies. During the ICC men’s Cricket World Cup 2019, Shahzad suffered a knee injury. After featuring Afghanistan’s first two games of that tournament, Shahzad was sent back home due to his fitness issue. The 18-year-old Ikram Ali Khil replaced him for the remainder of that tournament.
Later, Shahzad released a video on the social media where he claimed that he was completely fit for the matches.
Mohammad Shahzad made his international debut in August 2009. He has played two Tests, 84 ODIs and 65 T20Is where he has scored 69, 2,727 and 1,936 runs respectively. For Afghanistan, Shahzad is the most international run-scorer as well as most ODI and T20I run-scorer.
In ODI career, Shahzad has hit six centuries and 14 half-centuries. On the other hand, he also scored one century and 12 half-centuries in T20I career.
