The former Aussie cricketer Michael Hussey believes that MS Dhoni is an invaluable part of the Indian national cricket team.

MS Dhoni is one of the top versatile cricketers in international cricket. However, he is especially famous to play the finisher role consistently in the perfect way.

In 2018, he was struggling to perform with the bat. He was in rare poor ODI form in 2018 as he had an average of just 25.00 without scoring a single 50+ score.

However, MS Dhoni has returned to the form in early 2019. He won the Player of the Series award during the ODI series in the Australia tour. In that three-match ODI series, the right-handed batsman scored 193 runs averaging the same. He scored half-centuries in every match of that series, including two match-winning unbeaten innings. In further, he carried the same performances and confidence in recently concluded New Zealand tour.

Talking to Cricbuzz, Michael Hussey claimed that MS Dhoni could play any role for the national team. While he likes to see MS Dhoni in the finishing role, he also feels that the wicketkeeper-batsman can play better cricket in the top batting position.

Michael Hussey told Cricbuzz, “MS Dhoni can play at any role for the team. He can take the role as per the team balance. Personally, I like to see him in the closing role. He got so much of power in him. I can also see the value of him bring earlier into the batting because he takes a little bit of time and looks after the bowlers.”

MS Dhoni is just like a calculator

Michael Hussey knows MS Dhoni very well due to spending a lot of time together in Indian Premier League (IPL). While he mostly played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during his IPL career, now he is playing the batting coach role for the same team.

The former Aussie cricketer has compared MS Dhoni with computer or calculator to speak about his perfection. Talking about his excellent cricket quality, Michael Hussey also hasn’t forgotten MS Dhoni’s wicketkeeping skills.

The Mr.Cricket added, “He is so good at the run-chases. He is so good at managing things. We saw him in Australia, he was incredible. He is like a computer thinking that we can play here and we don’t need to panic here. No Need to take risks here and now, its time to go. He is just like a calculator. So, he is an invaluable part of that Indian team. He is experienced and doesn’t forget his wicketkeeping.”

MS Dhoni is currently looking forward to the upcoming home limited-overs series against Australia. India will play the two-match T20I and five-match ODI series from 24 February to 13 March.

After that, MS Dhoni will be back to the leadership responsibility in IPL 2019 as he will lead the defending champions CSK. After the completion of IPL 2019, India will begin their 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup journey on 5th June against South Africa at Southampton.
