Former Team India’s chief selector MSK Prasad, who has left the office earlier this week, shares the toughest decision he has taken during his tenure. He also expressed what was the most successful achievement of his team.
On Thursday, Sunil Joshi replaced MSK Prasad and Harvinder Singh replaced Gagan Kohda from the selection panel. The new selection panel will select India’s squad for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa.
MSK Prasad’s toughest decision:
While talking to TOI, former Indian cricketer Prasad expressed that the selector’s job is a responsible one. He mentioned some tough decisions of his tenure which include the exclusion of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja from white-ball cricket.
Prasad further added to find a replacement for Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni was also a challenging task.

“Dropping (Ravichandran) Ashwin and (Ravindra) Jadeja from white-ball cricket or preparing a successor for MS Dhoni, both were challenging,” he said of the toughest decisions he had to make.
“Dhoni and Yuvraj (Singh) are legends and I don’t really see anyone stepping into those shoes. It is tough to deal with. Our fundamental job is to identify fresh talent, groom them and induct them when the need arises,” he added.
MSK Prasad proud for developing bench strength:
Prasad feels proud for his team – to build the bench strength of the Indian team during his tenure. He believes that it is his biggest achievement.

“We had this goal of developing bench strength across all formats and we take pride in having achieved our goal,” Prasad said.
At last, Prasad thanked the captains and coaches which he has worked with. Prasad said he had enjoyed working with them.
Also, he wishes best to the Indian team for the ICC World Test Championship 2019-21. Concurrently, Virat Kohli-led India atop the Test charts by some distance.
