MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma Announced As Best IPL Captains

MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma have been adjudged with the title of best IPL captain. While former South African cricketer AB de Villiers has been declared as the greatest batsman in the lucrative T20 league. Also, Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga has been named as the greatest bowler of all the time. On Saturday, a panel comprising of 20 former cricketers gave these titles.

Rohit took the captaincy role of Mumbai Indians in 2013. The Mumbaikar with his successful tactics has led the team to lift the title four times, i.e., 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019.

On the other hand, Chennai Super King captain MS Dhoni has led the team to win three-time, i.e., 2010, 2011 and 2018. Well, CSK has played five grand final in past seasons where they were also banned for two seasons for fixing.

Well, IPL 2020 would have been exciting to see the rivalry between Dhoni and Rohit. The 13th edition would have decided whether the yellow army equals the title win with Mumbai or Rohit led side would have created their dominance again.

Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has been nominated for the best Indian batsman for his magnificent record in IPL. He is the highest scorer with 5412 runs in 177 matches. The skipper is still to lead the team to a title win though his team has reached three times to the finals of IPL.

Australia’s Shane Watson, one of CSK’s vital cog in the wheel, won the battle among the all-rounders. The title of best coach went to Stephen Fleming of Chennai Super Kings, who pipped Trevor Bayliss of Kolkata Knight Riders by a small margin.

The list was picked by Star Sports’ expert jury, comprising 50 members which included 20 former cricketers, ten senior sports journalists, ten statisticians and analysts (10), on Cricket Connected.

Well, IPL 2020 has been postponed indefinitely, and any steps will be taken after the situation gets normal. Earlier, the popular league was scheduled to start from 29th Match but was postponed till 15th April.
