The best skipper between MS Dhoni and Sourav Ganguly has always been an ever-lasting debate. The fans of both the stalwart players have got enough reasons to back their favourite players in the debate. However, after a fine time, the debate once again raised by ICC, where the fans once again indulged in the war of words.
Sourav Chandidas Ganguly made his way to the International cricket when the team was down by morale and Cricket in India had a tarnished image following the match-fixing scandal by Azharuddin and Ajay. He brought talented youngsters, instilled the fighting spirit and was ready to fight fire with fire, which was unusual those days.

MS Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly are two finest leaders:
He inspired the Indian team to win matches abroad, Headingley 2002 and Adelaide 2003 are some of the epic matches which would stay fresh in a cricket fan’s mind. He proposed the Indian team to back their strength. Out of the odds, he takes India to the World Cup Finals 2003 and beats Pakistan in Pakistan.
Coming to MS Dhoni, he came in as the captain when the seniors have backed out from the T20 format. With his new and fresh-team, he won the tournament and also the selector’s mind, who gave him the ODI captaincy.

He won the CB series, series wins in New Zealand and many in the way and then lifted the ICC World Cup 2011 in home conditions, which was the first time for any team.
Despite being criticised for his overseas tours, especially, in Test format of the game, with the all-new team he won the Champions Trophy 2013 and on the journey takes them to WC semi-finals in 2015.
Well, on a concluding note, one Harsha Bhogle said that ”Different situations require different kinds of leaders. Sourav Ganguly was excellent at a time when faith in Indian cricket was diminishing and he was what we call a wartime general. MS Dhoni was best when he prepared the young team”
“Two of the finest Indian captains, celebrating their birthdays within a day of each other.
Who do you rate more highly?,” wrote ICC.
