MS Dhoni Will Go Down As One Of Our Greatest Players – Ravi Shastri
India’s head coach Ravi Shastri says that MS Dhoni will go down as one of the greatest Indian players. Dhoni is currently not playing for the Indian team and there have been a lot of talks regarding his retirement. In fact, the former skipper was expected to hang his boots after the World Cup but it wasn’t to be the case.
The talisman was not picked for the West Indies tour and he took two months’ sabbatical to serve the Indian Army. Subsequently, Dhoni was also not available for the T20I series against South Africa. Furthermore, he is not going to be part of the T20I series against Bangladesh.
Dhoni has been a big player for India.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni recently played a charity football match in Mumbai along with Tennis legend Leander Paes.
Ravi Shastri said while talking to the Hindu, “He will go down as one of our greatest players, very, very high up the list.”
“Whether he wants to come back, that’s for him to decide. I have not met him after the World Cup. He has to first start playing and let’s see how things go,” he added.
There have been a lot of speculations regarding MS Dhoni’s retirement. However, the final decision will be taken by the man himself. The wicketkeeper-batsman has been a great servant of Indian cricket and he has been instrumental in the success of the team over the years.
On the other hand, Indian skipper Virat Kohli had recently shared a picture with MS Dhoni on his Twitter handler. It was anticipated that Kohli is paying tribute to Dhoni and it gave a hint that the retirement is around the corner. However, it was cleared by Sakshi Dhoni that it was all rumours.
Meanwhile, India had gone 1-0 up in the three-match Test series against South Africa after winning the first Test by 203 runs. The second Test match will take place at Pune from October 10.
