It has been a month since the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly declared that a whole new selection committee will announce India’s squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa. As the squad is not announced yet, there are possibilities that MSK Prasad’s panel will be asked to do it one last time.

It should be noted that at the end of the last month, the new Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) was named. The selection panel has been given the responsibility to pick the new selectors to replace the likes of Prasad and Gagan Khoda.

MSK Prasad’s panel likely to name India squad for South Africa ODIs:

With still no confirmation over the recruitment of the new selectors, a report from Bangalore Mirror mentioned that Prasad’s panel will be asked to name the squad for South Africa ODI series.

The report added that the CAC members are yet to be informed about how to proceed with their job.

If reports doing the rounds are to be believed then a new selection panel will be right in place in the first week of the next month but the selection panel is unlikely to pick the squad for the forthcoming series. The first match will be played at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium on March 12, Thursday.

Hardik Pandya, Shikhar Dhawan to return:

The squad has to be announced at least one week in advance by March 5. But with no further developments, there is still no clarity or guarantee whether the new panel will be operating by then. The report also added that the old panel is getting active.

One of the five members of the panel Jatin Paranjpe is in New Zealand and two others will be watching the Ranji Trophy semi-finals in Rajkot and Kolkata.

Apart from that, one of the selectors will also witness the matches of the DY Patil T20 tournament where big names like Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hardik Pandya will return to cricketing action.
