MS Dhoni‘s unavailability for the cricket has raised many questions to the Indian cricket fans. Recently, the chief selector MSK Prasad has clarified that MS Dhoni hasn’t announced any retirement plans.
Since the heart-breaking semi-final defeat in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, the former Indian captain MS Dhoni has made himself unavailable for the national team selection. While Dhoni now only plays the limited-overs cricket for the national team, he has already missed out last six limited-overs series this year and he is also ready to miss the next month too. Recently, MS Dhoni has clarified that he can make the decision about his cricket future after January 2020.
The panel members are as big a fan of MS Dhoni as anyone – MSK Prasad
Just a few months ago, the chief selector MSK Prasad claimed that they were moving on from MS Dhoni and focusing on the youngsters for the future. The former Indian wicketkeeper has now clarified that he and the other selection panel members are the fans of MS Dhoni who has achieved many successes.
Prasad recently told Sportstar, “The panel members, if we take away our professional responsibilities, are as big a fan of Dhoni as anyone. He has achieved everything under the sun, winning two World Cups, the Champions Trophy, No. 1 Test status.”
Apart from guiding the national team to the no.1 position in the Test ranking, MS Dhoni-led Indian team also won the ICC World T20 2007, ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, ICC Champions Trophy 2013 etc.
MSK Prasad has also clarified that MS Dhoni hasn’t announced any retirement plans. He has further added that Dhoni is free to take a call on this.
Prasad added, “Mahi has not announced any retirement plans. The options are wide open and Mahi will take a call. But, no body can question him about his career or contribution to Indian cricket.”
I wish Rohit Sharma gets one good away series – MSK Prasad
MSK Prasad has also praised the Indian opening batsman Rohit Sharma, who is currently in great form with the bat. While he has already achieved massive success in limited-overs cricket, the right-handed batsman has just showcased his talent in the red-ball cricket too after he was given the responsibility of opening batting. The chief selector is now hoping one good away series for Rohit which can change his mindset completely.
Prasad said about Rohit, “We all know his unbelievable talent in white-ball cricket. And, in the last four to five months, as opener in Tests, he has shown his skills. I wish he gets one good away series, that will change his mindset completely.”
