The reigning champions Mumbai Indians have revealed the list of retained and released players before the IPL Auctions. Mumbai Indians have retained a total of 15 players which include four foreign players. On the other hand, the Rohit Sharma-led side has let go of 12 players which include six overseas players.
The retained Indian players by Mumbai Indians are Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Krunal Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Surya Kumar Yadav, Rahul Chahar, Anmolpreet Singh, Jayant Yadav, Aditya Tare, Anukul Roy.
Mumbai Indians have retained their core.
The retained foreign players include Quinton de Kock, Kieron Pollard, Lasith Malinga, Mitchell McClenaghan.
Meanwhile, the defending champions have released foreign players like Evin Lewis, Adam Milne, Jason Behrendorff, Beuran Hendricks, Ben Cutting, and Alzarri Joseph. On the other hand, the reigning champions have also released Indian players like Yuvraj Singh, Barinder Sran, Rasikh Salam, Pankaj Jaswal.
Earlier Mumbai Indians had brought in Dhawal Kulkarni, Trent Boult, Sherfane Rutherford through the trade window. The defending champions had also traded out Siddhesh Lad to Kolkata Knight Riders. Furthermore, Mayank Markande was traded to Delhi Capitals.
Mumbai Indians is the most successful franchise with four IPL titles. Thus, they would look to continue their domination in IPL 2020. Mumbai Indians have a purse value of INR 13.05 crore remaining and there are a total of five domestic slots available and two can be filled by foreign players.
The IPL auctions will take place in Kolkata on 19th December and the team management will start doing their homework regarding which players they should target in the auctions.
