Munaf Patel is in Awe of Jasprit Bumrah’s Prominence
Former Team India fast bowler and part of the World Cup-winning squad in 2011, Munaf Patel has lauded the efforts of prominent paceman Jasprit Bumrah for delivering goods irrespective of conditions.
The 24-year-old Bumrah, who’s is topping the charts of the ODI bowling, is known for bowling searing Yorkers. Bumrah has grown a lot since making a white-ball debut in 2016. Patel added the Mumbaikar is a great learner of the game. Munaf also said Bumrah has the potential to make it big in the foreseeable future.
“Jasprit Bumrah is a quick learner. He is a confident guy and is always ready to learn from others. And has also worked hard on his fitness. He has proven that anything can be achieved if you are ready to learn,” Munaf told Sports Tak.
Moreover, Bumrah had starred with the ball in the Test fold against Australia. He bagged 21 wickets in the four-match Border-Gavaskar Test series to become join leading wicket-taker alongside Aussie off-spinner Nathan Lyon.
On the other hand, the 35-year-old Patel has backed the Men in Blue—to lift the upcoming 2019 World Cup trophy in England and Wales. The mega ODI event is scheduled to kick off in London on May when hosts England will face South Africa in the curtain raiser.
Also, Patel while shedding light on India’s bowling department stated the Men in Blue has been doing well across different traits. He added the side is one of the teams to lift the trophy while considering the options with the ball.
“India’s bowling unit has been performing well. India’s batting has always been strong, but our bowling has also become very strong now. We have a strong team. And that makes us one of the top contenders to win the World Cup,” Munaf said.

However, India will take on the Proteas in their opener of the 2019 World Cup in Southampton on June 5. In between, Bumrah would be crucial for India with the ball in English conditions.
While praising the efforts of Bumrah, Patel asserted the Mumbai Indians had given a great chance to such a youngster by instilling confidence in him.
“Jasprit Bumrah is a quick learner. Thanks to Mumbai Indians for giving him a chance,” Patel said on Bumrah’s emergence.
“He learned slower and yorker deliveries from Lasith Malinga in Mumbai Indians. And then also worked with Shane Bond and Zaheer Khan,” Patel concluded.
