New Zealand and India are ready for the third game of the five-match T20I series at Seddon Park (Hamilton). New Zealand won the toss and chose to field first.
The visitors India won the first two games of this series, and they are leading this series by 2-0. The hosts New Zealand can’t afford another defeat in this series as they must have to win all the three matches to snatch this series. Meanwhile, India are just one win away to secure this series-trophy.
They played the first two matches of this series at Eden Park (Auckland). In the first match of this series (24th January), India successfully chased down the 204 runs target in 19 overs after losing four wickets (204/4). It was their highest successful T20I chase outside the home soil.
They played the second match on 26th January and once again India successfully chased down the 133 runs target in 17.3 overs after losing three wickets (135/3).
New Zealand vs India 2020 (Toss Report): 3rd T20I, Hamilton
Coming back to the toss report of this Hamilton T20I, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to bowl first. They have made one change in this squad as Scott Kuggeleijn has replaced Blair Tickner.
Williamson said after winning the toss, “We will bowl first. A new surface, hopefully, we will get something from it. Need to follow our plans, we are playing a strong side, a new ground, a new surface, do the job with the ball. One change, Scott Kuggeleijn is in, for Blair Tickner. Both offer pretty much the same, both bowl heavy balls, perhaps, Scott is a bit better batsman”
The Indian team maintained last winning combination
After losing the toss, Indian captain Virat Kohli confirmed that they made no changes in the squad.
Kohli said, “I reckon (we would have bowled). Looks like a nice track, it’s pretty hard, nice grass cover, the weather might have a say in the second innings, but toss isn’t in our control. Just put a clinical performance, carry forward the momentum and grab the chances that comes. Don’t worry about too many changes, just go out there and do the job. No changes once again, the boys did a good job with both bat and ball, no need to make any changes at all.”
