Hosts India clinched the 3-match ODI series against New Zealand after beating the Kiwis in the thrilling 3rd ODI at Kanpur.
New Zealand decided to bowl first after winning the toss. India managed to score 337/6 at the end of 50 overs.
In reply, New Zealand was just six runs short of India’s total as they scored 331/7 in 50 overs. India won this game by only six runs and won the 3-match ODI series by 2-1.

- Playing his 194th ODI innings (202 ODI matches), Indian batsman Virat Kohli (9,030 runs) completed his 9,000 ODI runs. Kohli is the fastest to complete 9,000 ODI runs. The previous record holder was South African batsman AB de Villiers who had completed that feat in 205 ODI innings.
- Playing a brilliant knock of 113 runs, Virat Kohli became the captain with most runs in ODI in a calendar year. In 2017, Indian ODI skipper Kohli has already scored 1,460 runs. The previous record holder was former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting who had scored 1,424 runs in 2007.
Also, it was the sixth ODI century in 2017 for the Indian skipper Virat Kohli. It is the most no. ODI century for a captain in a calendar year.

- Three New Zealand batsmen scored 50+ runs (Colin Munro 75, Kane Williamson 64 and Tom Latham 65) during the chase which is the seventh time (only second time during chasing) when three New Zealand batsmen score 50+ runs in an ODI against India.
It is the third time out of these seven times when New Zealand suffered a defeat against India.
