Tanbir Hayder, Bangladesh leg-spinner who made his debut in the second ODI against New Zealand at Nelson, has been officially reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for using obscene language during the play. He has been found guilty of breaching Level 1 of ICC Code of Conduct.
Hayder breached Article 2.1.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an International Match”. In addition to that, he has also received one demerit point as per the new rules led down by the ICC. If in next 24 months, he receives three more demerits points then they’ll be converted into suspension points.
The incident happened in the 19th over of the game when the debutant bowler displayed his frustration after being hit for a boundary by centurion Neil Broom. He had few words for the batsman, which put him under scanner later.
In the end, Bangladesh lost the match as a sudden collapse during the middle overs scripted the second consecutive loss for the visitors in the ODI series. The last game of the three-match series will be played at Nelson on December 31. New Zealand will look to whitewash the visitors whereas Bangladesh will hope to win the game and salvage some pride.
