ToggleNew Zealand has won the first Test match against India by 10 wickets. Kane Williamson-led side also won the second match out of six matches played in ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2019-20. Whereas India lost its first Test match since the start of WTC.
The host has the upper hand in the game since the start of day one. The bowling department with likes of Trent boult and Tim Southee dismantled India’s batter in both the innings.
Bundling out the visitors for 165 in the first innings while halting them to set up the big total in the second innings, everything went right for New Zealand.
Talking about Kiwis batters, they had a decent outing with Kane Williamson being the highest scorer for the host. He scored 89 runs in the first innings.

After getting the lead in the Test series, Kiwi skipper seemed happy with his team’s all-round efforts. He counted bowlers effort who stood up to the expectation of the captain.
Kane also mentioned the lower order batsman contribution who had led New Zealand to score 348 runs in the first innings. Although he stated India is a mighty team.
“It was an outstanding effort over a space of 4 days. We know how strong this India team is all over the world. The effort that went into the first innings to get the ball in the right areas for long periods of time did help. With the bat to get what was a very competitive total on a surface which offered something throughout the game was very important,” said Kane Williamson.
Kane Williamson lauds Test debutant Kyle Jamieson:

Further, Williamson expressed that the Test debutant Kyle Jamieson had been prolific in the whole series. The tall pacer collected four wickets as well as showed his power with the bat as he scored 45 balls 44 that included four sixes and one boundary.
He went on to join Australia’s Michael Clarke for the record of hitting most sixes on Test debut.
“Kyle Jamieson has been brilliant throughout the summer with the white ball as well. He contributed in a number of ways. A great debut for him,” he added.
After winning the first Test match, New Zealand will surely like to clean sweep India at Hagley Oval in Christchurch in the second Test match which will start from 29th February.
