India, consecutively, in the second T20I match in Auckland, has registered the convincing seven-wicket victory over hapless New Zealand. The game saw a prolific performance by Indian bowlers as they created the pressure from the get-go. Also, the Kiwis skipper Kane Williamson appreciated the efforts of Team India’s bowlers.

Earlier, the Black Caps won the toss and opted to bat first which proved to be the wrong decision for them. Both the New Zealand opener Martin Guptill and Colin Munro lost their wickets inside 10 overs at the score of 68. After this, the host could not get back to the track as they somewhat set a tricky target of 133 for the Men in Blue.

We Need To Do Better: Kane Williamson

During the post-match presentation, Williamson expressed that India is a tough competitor while adding the Black Caps need to work hard to win the remainder of the games.

Further, he accepted that he would have had batted better.

“It was a tough day. We needed 15-20 runs more. Credit to the Indian bowlers the way they restricted us. I need to bat a little better perhaps. We needed to take a couple of wickets on the sluggish wicket. We were probably 15-20 runs than where we wanted to be. We need to be better in the next match. We need to keep moving forward as a group as we’re up against a tough side like India,” Williamson said.

In Eden Park, asked to field first, Indian pacer Shardul Thakur, Shivam Dube, and Jasprit Bumrah picked one wicket each. While the spinner Ravindra Jadeja picked two wickets.

The Men in Blue were exceptionally good in the ground fielding except the catch dropped by Virat Kohli.

While Rohit Sharma and Kohli lost their wickets early, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer took the game forward. Rahul scored a half-century while Shreyas missed his second consecutive 50.

Now, India has gained the lead of 2-0 in the ongoing five-match T20I series.

Moreover, Seddon Park in Hamilton will host the third T20I between New Zealand and India on January 29.
