On day two of the three-day tour game, the Indian pacers thoroughly dominated New Zealand XI. While Jasprit Bumrah managed to snare two wickets, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami and Navdeep Saini also performed very positively. Later, the Indians’ openers provided a firing start in the second innings.
The opening day of the game ended with Indians’ all-out on 263 runs in the first innings. New Zealand XI replied with 235 runs. Starting the second innings with the lead of 28 runs, Indians ended the day on 59 for no loss. At the stumps of day two, the Indians had the lead of 87 runs.
Moreover, the Indian pacers showed the controlled bowling performances on the entire day two. The New Zealand XI were losing their wickets at regular intervals. None of them was able to play the real big knocks in that innings.
Opener Rachin Ravindra scored 34 runs while the No. 4 batsman Finn Allen scored 20 runs. The other batsmen to cross the 20-run mark in that innings were Henry Cooper (40), Tom Bruce (31) and captain Daryl Mitchell (32). There was only one 50-plus partnership, and that was between Henry Cooper and Tom Bruce for the fifth wicket where they added 51 runs.

Indian pacer Mohammed Shami was the highest wicket-taker in that innings. The right-arm pacer had the bowling figures of 10-5-17-3.
Jasprit Bumrah finally put back the smile on the Indians’ faces after picking up two wickets. He finished that innings with the bowling figures of 11-3-18-2.
Umesh Yadav (2/49) and Navdeep Saini (2/58) also got two wickets each in that innings. Also, the off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (1/46) managed to pick up the last wicket of that innings. Only the left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja finished that innings in wicketless figures (0/25).
Coming to bat in the second innings, the openers Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal put the 59 runs partnership for the unbroken first wicket in just seven overs. While Shaw remained not out of 35 runs, Mayank Agarwal will start the next day on 23 runs.
