Though Wasim Jaffer didn’t play international cricket for a long time, he was a legendary cricketer in Indian domestic cricket history. The right-handed batsman, who retired from the game last March, is the only cricketer to score 10000+ runs in the Ranji Trophy history.

Jaffer played 31 Tests and two ODIs for India between 2000 and 2008 where he scored a total of 1954 runs. In his first-class career, Jaffer scored 19410 runs in 421 innings (260 matches) with an average of 50.67. He also scored 5000+ runs in limited-overs cricket (List A + T20).

Just recently on Tuesday (23rd June), Jaffer became the Head Coach of the Uttarakhand cricket team for the upcoming 2020/21 season.

Wasim Jaffer’s nephew, the 21-year-old Armaan Jaffer, just started his domestic cricket. While he has played five first-class matches for the Mumbai team, the right-handed batsman has just managed to score 55 runs.

Recently, in November 2019, Armaan served for the India Emerging team in the ACC Emerging Teams Cup 2019, where he scored a century (105) and a half-century (51*). In that tournament, Armaan finished as the fourth-most run-scorer (most run-scorer for the India Emerging team) as he scored 230 runs in four innings (average 76.66).

Earlier, from 2016 to 2017, Armaan was a member in the IPL team Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) as he was added for INR 10 lakh. However, he didn’t make his IPL debut yet.

In the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2016, where Rahul Dravid-coached India U19 finished as the runners-up, Armaan scored 160 runs in six innings (average 32.00), including one half-century (64 runs).
