Australia’s premier pacer Pat Cummins, who got the crucial wickets of Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara in the second innings at Adelaide Oval, hopes that the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) wicket would offer some bounce and pace to aid the fast bowlers in the second Test.

Pat Cummins gave early breakthroughs to Australia, on Sunday, during the maiden pink-ball Test against India. He was supported by Josh Hazlewood from the other end, who picked a five-wicket haul to reach the 200 Test wickets mark.

Pat Cummins recalled that during the Ashes 2017 and when India last played the Test match at MCG, the pitch was much flatter. But during the New Zealand tour, it offered more pace and bounce. He hopes that

“I thought the Ashes test (in 2017) and the Indian test at the MCG a couple of years ago were pretty flat and boring wickets as a bowler.

“Last year against New Zealand it was a really good wicket. It has a bit of sideways and pace and bounce. Hopefully, it will be much the same.

Pat Cummins added that the good battle between the bat and ball is offered in Melbourne and he hopes that same is witnessed in the coming match.

“I think not only as a player but as a fan, they are the best wickets, when it is a good battle between bat and ball. You feel like if you do your skill well, you can have a big impact,” Pat Cummins said.

The Australian bowlers came up with one of their best bowling performances to restrict India to a record-breaking 36 all-out in the first Test at Adelaide Oval, their lowest ever score in Test innings.

Their previous lowest total was 42 all out in the Lord’s Test against England on June 20, 1974. This is also the fifth-lowest total overall, and the lowest total by any team in 65 years.
