The Karnata leg-spinner Pravin Dubey has replaced injured Amit Mishra in the Delhi Capitals squad in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Dubey was already present in the UAE as the net bowler for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). But now, he will join DC as the player.
Amit Mishra had injured his bowling finger during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) while saving runs. The 37-year-old was, therefore, ruled out of the tournament and went under surgery.
Pravin Dubey has impressive domestic stats:
Pravin Dubey is one of the known players in the Karnataka Premier League (KPL). His best seasons came in the 2015-16 KPL when he took eight wickets for Belgavi Panthers at an economy rate of 6.89.
Apart from leagues, the 27-year-old has also represented Karnataka in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He also has 16 wickets in T20 cricket. The leg-spinner has also played a first-class game and eight List A matches, picking two and 11 wickets respectively.
RCB picked up the spinner in the February 2016 IPL auctions for his base price of INR 35 lakhs. However, he didn’t play a single game for the franchise and was released after two seasons.
Pravin Dubey is likely to warm the bench because Ravichandran Ashwin is already doing an excellent job for Delhi Capitals. If the veteran is given rest, the youngster might get the opportunity.
Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals are topping the points table with seven wins out of nine matches played so far. Their next match is against Kings XI Punjab on Tuesday (October 19) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
