Teenage sensation Prithvi Shaw had a breakthrough against the Windies when he featured in his first-ever international match for India in October 2018 at Rajkot. Also, his remarkable outing has impressed the national selectors to pick him in the four-match Test series squad for Australia tour. But he missed on a big-time opportunity to prove his mettle on the Australian soil by suffering an ankle injury during the warm-up fixture against Cricket Australia XI in Sydney.
Thus, Shaw expressed dejection for missing out much-awaited opportunity to kick off the innings for visitors.
“I was waiting for that tour but this injury happened. Still very happy that I was not there. But still we came up with a win against Australia. I was really happy for India. But I was a bit disappointed from a personal point of view because I couldn’t play over there. But I can’t say anything about it, it just happened,” Shaw told CricketNext.
The 19-year-old opening batsman twisted his ankle at the boundary line when he attempted to complete a catch. However, after being ruled out of the Australia tour, Shaw expressed delight by praising the efforts of Team India. Under the leadership of Virat Kohli, visitors seal the historic Test series 2-1.
Shaw had a difficult time:

Ahead of the Tour Down Under, Shaw expressed delight by saying he is hopeful of facing top-notch bowlers of Australia. But the untimely ankle injury has dashed his hopes to play against Tim Paine led Australia.
“It was a tough time, to be honest. But you can’t do anything about the injury, it can happen any time. But yeah, I was a bit disappointed because it was a good challenge for me, going to Australia for the first time & facing the best fast bowlers & to play against them it would be my pleasure,” Shaw inferred.
The young batting dynamite is concurrently representing Mumbai in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty20 Trophy 2019. So far, he had a mixed season with the bat. He smashed a 50-plus score against Goa on February 25 at Indore.
Also, the cricketing pundits have lavished praise on Shaw for his exuberance and remarkable efforts. Shaw has already shown that he has enough in his tank to represent India for quality time.

In his debut Test, promising star Shaw smashed a debut hundred against the Caribbean side by scoring 134. Also, he returned with 71 in the second Test to clinch the Man of the Series award.
While representing Delhi Capitals (CA) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the time is not that far when Shaw will be tested in the white-ball cricket. Shaw, who has impressed with his solid technique, has all in ingredients in him to play across formats for his country in the foreseeable future.
