Rahul Dravid-led Rajasthan Royals involved in the IPL spot-fixing scandal
The cash-rich league, Indian Premier League (IPL) got a massive blow after the IPL 2013 spot-fixing scandal. Rahul Dravid-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) were in the centre stage in this controversy as three of their players were accused of being involved in the spot-fixing during that tournament. Those three cricketers were Ajit Chandila, Ankeet Chavan and S Sreesanth. The police arrested all of them.
As Dravid was the captain of the team, he had to face many questions during the investigations. The RR skipper was shocked and felt cheated by those players as he earlier did not doubt those players.
It ultimately destroyed the team’s image who were later suspended for two years (2016 and 2017). In the IPL 2013, RR finished as the third-placed team. While they qualified for the playoffs of that tournament, they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the eliminator but suffered defeat against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Qualifier 2.
