On Thursday (6th February), the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed that Jofra Archer will miss the Sri Lanka tour and IPL 2020. However, his IPL team Rajasthan Royals (RR) is still in hope to see him in the upcoming IPL season.

Since Jofra Archer has been injured, his IPL team Rajasthan Royals was in concern. After the opening game of the four-match Test series against the hosts South Africa at Centurion, which began on Boxing Day 2019, the 24-year-old English bowling all-rounder has missed out the cricket.

Due to the right-elbow injury, Archer has missed out the remainder of ongoing South Africa tour, where he is missing last three Tests and the entire limited-overs series.

On Wednesday (5th February), Archer underwent further scans on his injured right elbow which confirmed a low-grade stress fracture. He will now start an injury rehabilitation programme with the ECB medical team.

The ECB has also confirmed that the youngster will miss out the subsequent Sri Lanka tour for the Test series and the entire IPL. They are expecting to see fit Archer ahead of the beginning of their new home summer in international cricket. The new English home summer in international cricket will start on 4th June with The Oval Test against West Indies.

Jofra Archer is undoubtedly one of the crucial players in the present England cricket team. He was one of the heroes who helped the England cricket team to win their first ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019. Archer also impressed with his cricket skills during the Ashes 2019.

Rajasthan Royals is working with ECB in Jofra Archer’s speedy recovery

However, Rajasthan Royals hasn’t lost their hope yet to see Jofra Archer in the upcoming IPL season. According to the present report, the IPL 2020 is likely to run from 29th March to 24th May 2020. The IPL franchise is working with ECB in Archer’s speedy recovery.

Since his IPL debut in 2018, Jofra Archer is serving for Rajasthan Royals. He has taken 26 wickets in 21 IPL matches.
