Ranji Trophy, the domestic first-class cricket competition in India that is running yearly since 1934, is the crucial step for the Indian cricketers, which provides the door to reach to the national team.

This Ranji Trophy tournament has brought a lot of talented Indian batsmen. While some have been lucky to serve for the national team successfully, some have only earned few opportunities for the national team, and others haven’t that good luck at all.

Ashok Mankad – batting average 76.08

The former right-handed batsman Ashok Mankad, son of Vinoo Mankad, served for Bombay in the Ranji Trophy history. While he scored 6619 runs in that tournament, his batting average was 76.08.

Ashok served for the Indian team between 1969 and 1978, where he played 22 Tests and only ODI. The right-handed batsman scored 991 Test runs (average 25.41) and 44 ODI runs.
