Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan scripted history and became the fastest bowler to 100 ODI wickets beating the record set by Aussie speedster Mitchell Starc. He reached the feat in his 44th ODI while Starc achieved the feat in his 53rd ODI. It was during the Qualifier game against the Windies. He accomplished the feat in the 20th over of Windies innings by getting the wicket of Shai Hope. It was a flatter trajectory delivery which skidded on and wrapped him right in front of the stumps. The umpire had no hesitation in ruling in favor of the bowling.
There is no doubt about the fact that a 19-year-old spinner is a class act. He has exceptional; variations up his sleeve and can make any star batsman look clueless in front of his tweakers. He bowls quick and gives it a rip. His record speaks for itself. The leggie has been a sensational limited overs bowler for his nation and has also been a hot pick in the Players Auctions ahead of any T20 tournament across the world.
Afghanistan has been awarded the Test status and will play their first match against India in June. Rashid will be an important factor, and his guile can surely put Indians under pressure.
