The two top-notch spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Rashid Khan entertained fans with their Instagram live chat on Tuesday. From keeping their opinion on cricket to their daily routine during the lockdown, they touched a plethora of subjects. The duo also picked combined India-Afghanistan playing XI which comprised of eight Indian players. Also, they didn’t select a captain to lead the team.
Only one Afghanistan batsman in the combined XI:
Rashid Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal agreed to pick Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan as opening-batsman pair in the India-Afghanistan XI. At batting No.3, they placed the current Indian captain Virat Kohli, who has scored plenty of runs from this position.
Afghanistan batsman Rahmat Shah, who has played 73 ODIs so far, was slotted at no.4. Notably, he is the only pure Afghan batsman in the playing XI. Following Rahmat, Chahal and Rashid went with KL Rahul, who has been prolific with his bat for India in the past tours.
MS Dhoni also included:
Although MS Dhoni has not played cricket since the World Cup 2019, the duo agreed to place MS Dhoni at no.6. For the allrounder’s position, Hardik Pandya or Mohammad Nabi would be given a chance according to the playing condition.
In the bowling department, Rashid Khan included himself and Mujeeb Ur Rahman as the spinner. The 19-year-old Mujeeb was the star-performer in the Indian Premier League for Kings XI Punjab in 2018 edition. He had picked 14 wickets in 11 matches. But in the last edition, he played in only five games where he picked three wickets.
Chahal and Rashid also picked the two Indian speedsters; Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami in the bowling department.
