The Head Coach of India National Cricket Team, Ravi Shastri once again has come up to clear things out on MS Dhoni’s retirement. The former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has been out of the picture for a while now. Ever since India were eliminated by New Zealand bowlers in the semi-final of the World Cup 2019, Dhoni has been on sabbatical leave.
And because of his ongoing absence from the game, Dhoni’s name was omitted from the central contractual list of BCCI, this year. The news has further raised eyebrows on the board and Dhoni, but, none of them had said anything regarding this news. While the BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly had refused to comment on the same, hours later Dhoni was seen practising with the Jharkhand cricket team.
On the other hand, the team selectors have started to give the young cricketers chance in the cricket series. Selectors have tried their bids with Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Sanju Samson. While Pant still has to improve his game, Rahul has been giving impeccable performances with both the bat and behind the stumps.
Ravi Shastri said that ‘if MS Dhoni doesn’t feel good in IPL, he’ll say ‘thank you very much”
However, it is still unclear whether his omission from the annual contractual list of BCCI will be one of the reasons for his retirement from the game.
The Head Coach of the India team, Ravi Shastri, has, however, come up to give his opinion on the Dhoni’s future with the Blue jersey.
He has once again stressed on the possibilities and the performance of Dhoni in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season (IPL 2020). According to him, by the end of the cash-rich premier league, everyone will have the awaited answer.
“Exactly what I wanted to ask you. There is IPL coming. Uske baad tum dekho. Everyone will know. He will know, selectors will know, the captain will know seeing him, and more important than anything else he will know. What I’m trying to tell the people is he is the last person to impose himself on anything. You know him. I know him,” Ravi Shastri told The Hindu.
Coach Shastri, furthermore, said that Dhoni has always been honest and will certainly speak if he doesn’t feel like going on anymore.
“For years, you know that he’s been dead honest when it comes to things of that sort, like when he gave up Test cricket. There was no thing of 100 Tests because he is not the guy who will impose on himself. I don’t know if he started practicing as yet or not, but I’m sure if he’s keen on the IPL, everything will come out now and he will be ready. For all you know, he may start the IPL, if he doesn’t feel good he’ll say ‘Thank you very much,’” Shastri added.
Meanwhile, Dhoni recently practised at the Jharkhand cricket stadium in Ranchi and gearing up for the upcoming IPL season. This has been the first time in the last few months when the wicketkeeper-batsman was seen on the field.
Ever since his sabbatical after the coveted ICC tournament, Dhoni has been attending several events. Right after he was seen training with the young Jharkhand cricketers, Dhoni attended the inaugural event at the Jharkhand State Cricket Stadium (JSCA).
The 13th edition of the IPL will be the first time in months when Dhoni would be seen back in the game.
