Ravi Shastri to Hardik Pandya – You Are Born For Better Stuff
In the last few months, Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has remained top of the news for various reasons. At first, he was in big controversies and later he made his tremendous comeback in international cricket. The national team’s head coach Ravi Shastri backs him in this period by telling him, “You are born for better stuff”.
Since his international cricket debut in January 2016, Hardik Pandya has gradually grown up as one of the top all-rounders in international cricket. In last September, during the 2018 Asia Cup, Hardik Pandya suffered a back injury that forced him to stay away from the game for around three months.
After his positive comeback in the domestic cricket, Hardik Pandya returned to the national team during the second half of the Test series in Australia. Though he was not in the playing XI during the Test series, he was set to play the ODI series in that Australia tour. However, in between this time, Hardik Pandya entered in a new controversy for his inappropriate comments on the chat show ‘Koffee with Karan‘.
After the several criticisms on those comments, the BCCI suspended Hardik Pandya (KL Rahul, who also featured in the same show, also faced suspension). Later, the BCCI removed the suspension, but the investigation is still pending.
Finally, the 25-year-old all-rounder made his international return in the ongoing New Zealand tour. He made his international comeback after more than four months and has already shown his all-round cricket abilities in limited opportunities.
Brush it off
Recently, when Ravi Shastri was speaking to Cricbuzz, he revealed that he told the young all-rounder to forget the past and move on.
Ravi Shastri said, “I have told him to brush it off (the repercussions following his comments on the chat show ‘Koffee with Karan’). Consider it a rap on the knuckles, a hard rap on the knuckles, and now move on. I have told him, ‘You are born for better stuff’.”
Praised BCCI for handling the situation well
Ravi Shastri further praised the national cricket board for handling the case properly.
Ravi Shastri added, “Who doesn’t make mistakes? He has not made a mistake where you can book him for anything. I think the BCCI handled it well with a proper rap on his knuckles (for whatever was said). I don’t want to comment on the BCCI process, though. Only, that they brought him back to where he belongs. I am happy to see him where he belongs, on the cricket field.”
Hardik Pandya’s international return is full of positivity. It seems like he is ready to forget the past and change his fate as soon as possible.
