Ravichandran Ashwin offers heartfelt condolences to his former Coach
Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin mourned the demise of his former coach P.K. Dharmalingam. He was a former Indian cricketer and represented Madras and Services during his playing days (1960-1970) in the domestic circuit.
One of my coaches from the early days, a man who spent his entire life for the sport. His "cricket kanavugal" program on TV will always be remembered by the kids from the 90's. Rip sir🙏 https://t.co/5yJxOp8mpL

Ashwin took to Twitter and wrote, “One of my coaches from the early days, a man who spent his entire life for the sport. His “cricket kanavugal” program on TV will always be remembered by the kids from the 90’s. Rip sir”. Former Indian cricketer W.V. Raman, too, expressed his condolences.
Ashwin, 32, is not part of India’s limited overs squad and therefore he plans to spend his time honing his skills in County cricket. Nottinghamshire earlier announced that the off-spinner will represent the club. India’s next Test assignment will be against Windies, which will be part of the inaugural World Test Championship. Ashwin was a part of the victorious Indian team that defeated Australia in their own backyard. He last featured for the national team in Adelaide, in the first Test match against Tim Paine’s men.
Ravichandran Ashwin set to play County cricket
The cricketer will replace Australia’s James Pattinson at the end of June. He is set to play at least 6 of the remaining 7 Test matches. “I’m really looking forward to joining up with Nottinghamshire, to playing cricket at an iconic venue like Trent Bridge and hopefully contributing to some County Championship victories,” Ashwin told the club’s website.
“I enjoyed my previous stint in England with Worcestershire. It’s a good, competitive standard of cricket over there and I can’t wait to get started.” he added.
His teammate Ajinkya Rahane has already made a mark this season. Playing for Hampshire, Rahane hit a hundred on debut. In the process, he became only the third Indian to achieve the feat. Piyush Chawla and Murali Vijay are the other two Indian cricketers, who are part of the elite list.
