The team management is currently finding the best possible combination for the T20 World Cup scheduled in Australia next year. Meanwhile, India’s ex-batting coach Sanjay Bangar has recommended Ravindra Jadeja over Krunal Pandya for the all-rounder position for the upcoming big assignment.
After the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, Sanjay Bangar was replaced by the likes of Vikram Rathour from the position of India’s batting coach. Bangar opined that the allrounder Jadeja is currently best in his form. Jadeja will be a better option than Kurnal Pandya for No.7 position, suggests Bangar.
Pandya earned the call in Indian team last year but has been inconsistent. In the last T20I series against Bangladesh at home, he was unimpressive with the bat and ball. He scored 15* runs and took no wickets in the two matches, therefore, has lost his place to Jadeja in the upcoming home series.
Jadeja had an impressive World Cup 2019 where in the semifinal he scored 77 runs off 59 balls but was not able to hand over the victory to India. After which, he is regular in Test and ODI squad. Now, the player has also earned the call in T20I.
Sanjay Bangar reveals why Ravindra Jadeja is ahead from Krunal Pandya
While talking to PTI, Bangar opined that Jadeja has better quality in bowling and batting in comparison to Pandya. He can perfectly fill the space of No.7 in the Indian team.
“You require a wrist spinner in the T20 format, it has been a very major component in India’s success wherein 2 wrist spinners played a massive role in most of the one day’s and T20 series the team has had across conditions hence you will need a bowler who is capable of bowling the complete 4 overs and also bat at No.7,” said the former batting coach, as quoted by PTI.
“Hence, I feel Ravindra Jadeja edges over Krunal Pandya here as Krunal hasn’t been able to deliver the complete 4 overs at times and Jadeja has been in great form recently.”
