Really Looking Forward To Bowl With Jasprit Bumrah – Navdeep Saini

India’s greenhorn pacer Navdeep Saini is looking forward to the opportunity of sharing the new ball duties with talisman fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Saini has thus far never played an International match alongside Jasprit Bumrah and the series against Sri Lanka will be a great chance for the Delhi pacer to bowl with Bumrah.
The lanky pacer has impressed with brisk pace and bounce and he would like to grab the opportunity with both hands. India doesn’t have the services of Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar as both of them are ruled out due to respective injuries. Thus, Saini will be a sure selection in the playing XI.
Saini has impressed with his pace.
On the other hand, India’s gun pacer Jasprit Bumrah is making a comeback after his lower back injury. Hence, it would be a great chance for the likes of Saini and Shardul Thakur to bowl with Bumrah.
Saini believes he can learn a great deal from Jasprit Bumrah as he can pick up his mind.
“I can now share my weaknesses and shortcomings with him. I can learn more by watching him bowl. It will be a good opportunity for me. I am really looking forward to it,” Saini told PTI in an exclusive interview on Friday.
India’s bowling attack is one of the most potent attacks in the world and Saini knows he has to make a place for himself. Consequently, he needs to be on his toes in the upcoming series.
“Our bowling attack is the strongest at the moment and that gives me that extra motivation. And that I have to work even harder to secure a regular spot,” he said
Saini has the skills to bowl at great speed and he can get the extra bounce from the surface. The Delhi pacer had a good T20I debut against the West Indies as he took three wickets for 17 runs in his quota of four overs.
Saini also had a good ODI debut as he took two wickets for 58 runs. The fast bowler was able to get the wicket of Roston Chase with a perfect yorker and also accounted for Shimron Hetmyer.
“I had prepared well for my debut match and thankfully that yorker came off well. Let’s hope to do well again. I am just keeping my preparation going,” the wry pacer said.
Saini believes every match is important to him and he needs to grab whatever chances he is getting for the national side.
“From here on, every match and series is important for me. If I do well, I can also grow well as a cricketer and the team will also win. I don’t think too far ahead. Always I take one match at a time and think of giving my best every time.
“All my hard work paid off and I had a successful 2019. It’s about putting in that extra mile again so as to secure my place.”
India will take on Sri Lanka in the first T20I at Barsapara Cricket Stadium on 5th January at Guwahati.
