Former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who announced his retirement earlier this month is likely to feature in the upcoming Euro T20 Slam. Meanwhile, this will be his second franchise-based T20 league as he recently signed up for the Global T20 Canada. He will play for Toronto Nationals in the tournament which starts from July 25.
Yuvraj to play in Euro T20 Slam
The veteran all-rounder indicated that he would like to play T20 cricket around the world while announcing his retirement. Yuvraj Singh said he would want to feature in some fun T20 cricket and enjoy his leaving behind the stressful international cricket. Dean Jones, one of the board members of the Euro T20 Slam, revealed that India’s World Cup hero has shown interest in featuring in the league. The former Australia cricketer also said more and more Indian cricketers are announcing retirement to play in foreign leagues due to BCCI’s strict policy.

“There are a few things going on in Indian cricket and since BCCI is not giving permission to take part in foreign T20 leagues, some Indian cricketers are announcing retirement so they can be free to play anywhere they want,” Jones said to CricketNext. “Yuvraj Singh is one of them and he’s confirmed to us his interest to join the Euro T20 Slam,” he added.
Recently, former Chennai Super Kings bowler Manpreet Goni announced his retirement to play in the Global T20 Canada. Dean Jones also revealed that few more Indian cricketers can sign up for the Euro T20 Slam before their auction in London. AB de Villiers, Andre Russell, Dale Steyn and Imran Tahir are some other big names who are likely to feature in the Euro T20 league.

Yuvraj Singh last featured in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Mumbai Indians. He played only four matches at the start of the tournament scoring 98 runs including a half-century. The all-rounder will be a valuable addition to any team he plays for. The competition will run from August 30 to September 22 in Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands.
