Rishabh Pant is currently facing a tough time which is not moving on. On Wednesday (27th November), he played for his domestic team where he got a good start but failed to guide his team to the victory in the must-winning game.

It was their last Super League stage (Group A) game in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019/20 between Rajasthan and Delhi which could be also called as the virtual quarter-final of that tournament. The 22-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant played for Delhi in that crucial game.

After winning the toss, Deepak Chahar-led Rajasthan decided to bat first but struggled from the very first ball. In the late moment of that game, Deepak Chahar played a most crucial 50+ knock that helped his team to manage a fighting first innings total of 133/7 (20 overs). The Rajasthan captain scored 55 not out off 42 balls with seven sixes. Rajesh Bishnoi (36) and Salman Khan (23) were the only other batsmen in that innings to reach the double-digit marks.

In reply, Delhi also failed to get a good start. Apart from the opener Rishabh Pant, all other batsmen till the no.6 positions failed to reach the double-digit scores in that innings. On the other hand, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant managed to get a good start but lost his wicket after settled down. The left-handed batsman scored 30 runs off 27 balls before losing his wicket as Delhi were struggling on 53/5.

At late, Lalit Yadav (30), Varun Sood (24) and Suboth Bhati (14) tried hard to save the side but ultimately they were three runs short from the target. Delhi were restricted to 131/9 at the end of 20 overs as they lost by two runs.

Rishabh Pant made a positive start in his international career after making debut in February 2017. However, he is currently facing a tough time both as a batsman and wicketkeeper. He has been mostly criticised for his poor shot selections which cost his wicket and sometimes cost the game too.

Recently, Rishabh Pant has been dropped from the Test playing XI. Though he is still regularly playing limited-overs cricket for India, his present position is not secured due to his constant struggling form.
