Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting believes the under-fire Rishabh Pant will be back in the Indian team sooner than later. Pant was left out of the playing XI after KL Rahul grabbed his chances with both hands. The southpaw batsman was hit on the head by a bumper from Australian gun pacer Pat Cummins in the first ODI at Mumbai.
Subsequently, Pant was ruled out of the second ODI against Australia. The wicket-keeper batsman had regained match fitness for the third ODI but he was left out of the playing XI as Virat Kohli didn’t want to tinker with the winning combination. Rahul scored a match-winning knock of 80 runs off just 52 balls in the second ODI.

Pant will like to be more consistent.
Furthermore, Rahul was backed as the first choice keeper for the T20I series against New Zealand. Thus, Rishabh Pant is warming the benches. In fact, Pant has received his chances but he hasn’t been able to grab it with both hands.
However, it was unfortunate that he was kicked out of the final XI after suffering a concussion. When Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting was asked by a Twitter user that where does he see the left-hander going from here.
Ponting said Pant is a very talented batsman and he will make the cut into the playing XI sooner than later.

“Rishabh Pant is a young man with a huge amount of talent. I am looking forward to working with him again during the IPL and I am sure he will be back in the Indian team sooner rather than later,” Ponting said while replying to one of the users during his interaction with fans on Twitter.

Earlier Pant was replaced by Wriddhiman Saha in the Test side. Thus, Pant has lost his place from all the three forms of the game.
