Robin Uthappa Lends Support to Mithali Raj over Image Saga
Mithali Raj has brought great laurels to India. She has been leading the way for women’s cricket for over a year now. She has made a commendable contribution to women’s cricket as well as to cricket as a whole.
She led India to the final of the Women’s World Cup, recently. Indian cricket fans must thank her for achieving such heights in the world of cricket. She is now the leading run-getter in women’s cricket with more than 6000 runs to her name.
However, she is facing criticism over a picture she posted recently on social media. These criticism are, however, baseless. She posted a selfie after a photo shoot with her colleagues and friends, which some fans found objectionable. These trolls on her personal preferences have been found very offending, and various groups and activists have lent their support to the India women’s skipper.
Women activists have come out in support of Mithali Raj, as Mariya Alam Umar said,
“It is an insult to a woman and a player. What kind of a culture are these people presenting by posting such dirty comments? Nobody has the right to interfere in her personal life,”
Another activist Ruby Mukherjee has also reacted by saying,
“Mithali can wear whatever she wants to. She is an adult and knows what to wear. If you are telling her what to wear, then you are making a laughing stock of yourselves.”
Right-handed batsman Robin Uthappa also supported the Indian skipper. He showed his support on Twitter by saying,”
Mithali Raj being treated badly by some silly minds. It’s disappointing to see our culture stuck in the same rut @M_Raj03 #MithaliRaj”
